Question

What is freedom? Is it relative to where you are in the world? apwong

Answer

Donato Bayu Bay Bumacas: Freedom is the basic human rights that everybody should be free to do their own thing. However, it should be accompanied by responsibility and self-discipline. It is not right also to say, “I am free and doing things which violates the freedom of others” and, therefore, I would say, it’s well -- freedom is the basic human rights, which should be accompanied by responsibility and self-discipline so that freedom in such a concept will not be abused. And that’s for me is freedom. It is a basic human rights, but it should be accompanied by responsibility and self-discipline. And just like this, I am free. I am free with this table of free voices, and this is one way of exercising freedom to be free to share your thoughts, to be free to sit in this table and share your ideas that global or listeners might take things onto it and apply it in their own life and that’s freedom. That’s freedom. And I think I am happy that in spite of everything, Dropping Knowledge is trying to promote this free space, the table of free voices, for us participants to freely express our own ideas and that’s freedom. Freedom without responsibility is not freedom. Freedom without discipline is not freedom. Respect, yes, yes, yes.
