Anthony Arnove: It’s an interesting question. I will try not to pay attention to what my neighbors are saying quite rightly. I think you can answer this two ways. No, we don’t have a right to consider our lives more valuable than lives of other species in the sense that we have an obligation to other beings with whom we share the planet. We have obligation to our environment. But, ultimately, I think we do have to make a distinction in the sense that the organization of human life has a different nature in the sense that we collectively can organize to either bring about circumstances that would lead to the preservation or the destruction of other species in a way that has a far more profound responsibility.

Hello Anthony, First of all, I'm sorry that i only gave you one star. that was a mistake and i don't know how to change it again. However, thank you very much for your answer. I think you made a very important point. To me any living creature on this earth is equal. That's why i won't ever hurt even a fly. all living beings no matter how small have a right to live. It's one thing if animals kill other animals in order to eat and stay alive but to me what humans do to animals and even to themselves is not how it's supposed to be. Your are right that we can organize ourselves but that may not be the best thing. I'll probably lead to the destruction of our planet. On the other hand, I believe that there are way that animals among each other also have way to communicate. For example, why is it that each fish in a fish swarm moves at exactly the same time in the same direction as all the other fish in the swarm? Silke Gesierich from Berlin, Germany

in my opinion you´ve got to dive into the meaning of law: Laws mean rules for a certain society to let people know which behaviour is expected in this society (sorry for my english, i am german). Any law will not wipe away your consiousness, will not wipe away your feelings and your will. So if you intend to break the law you have to ask yourself if you are willing to stand outside the specific society you are living in and if you are willing to live with the conseqences, because the law will react on what you will do. Use your brain, use your heart, use all what youve got and think deeply before breaking any law. Maybe it will be necessary to help other people, but you have to be consious on what you are doing (and why) because you will be asked, why you decided to break the law. IF you will be asked and not just punished for what youve done. For myself I would never say that I would not break any law. There are things above the law and in case I felt a conflict between both I hope I will let my heart decide.
