Take our own responsibility. If society is what it is now, it is because we do not take responsibility. We shift the blame, finds ways to point fingers instead of looking at ourselves. This goes for everything from raising children to the end of it all, death. We cannot do anything if we do not accept our integral life as being part of a whole. Very little does not come from our own decisions. I can think of only one thing: birth. From that moment, even as a child we start making choices. These choices can and are usually flawed due to a lack of pertinent information, personal bias and personal ambition. This is where being responsible and acknowledging our choices becomes important. I went through severe traumas in my life and I came to realize that regardless of circumstances I am responsible. Once I did that, life became simpler to live and my vision of the world around me changed. It did not make my life easier; it just started to make sense. Each and every one of us has to come to this realization and, at that moment, the grass is no longer greener over the fence, it is just fine where we are. That alone solves lots of conflicts. Also, being able to see the problem’s origin allows for a solution to most problems and permit the acceptation of some of the current state of affairs, both on a personal and in our society. The other side of taking responsibility is being able to see when we are truly not responsible.
