A lie that has been perpetuated by some, if not all religions, is that Human Beings are a seperate creation from the rest of nature. This is a very dangerous concept, dangerous to nature and to all life on Earth. It leades those who believe it to regard the Earth and the environment as expendable. After all if people are a seperate creation then God will preserve us even if we deatroy the planet. Nothing could be further from the truth ! Human beings are part of nature we come from nature. If you believe in God, Evolution is how we were created, if you don't then Evolution is still the answer. We need to understand that we are part of nature and need to preserve it or we will deatroy ourselves.

the biggest lie is that we cannot erradicate poverty and stop people from dying of hunger. we are able to do it, all we need is commitment! we need to bring back that generous self that we all have somewhere inseide ourselves. the rich and powerful should stop their greed and give a hand to the rest of the world. we need to wake up soon from the dream life of "money=happiness" and start living a life where "happiness=generosity" and where the money is a mean to help people, not a mean to forget about the human race.

The idea that the land on this planet can be owned. 95% of the world's land is owned by less than 5% of the people upon it. This is obscene. It basically makes slaves of those who make up the 95% of those aren't in the top 5% of landowners. The lie is that a lifetime of hard work and following rules will allow you to go in debt for the right to claim that a tiny speck of land is yours. The world's greatest lie took form in 1912 when the Federal Reserve was formed and the income tax was implemented. There is nothing federal about the "Fed" except the word in its name, just like Federal Express. It is a private company owned by a handful of bankers who keep their identity hidden. Nowhere in existence is there a law requiring any American citizen to pay a tax upon his labor. The income tax is illegal. It is enforced by fear and intimidation. This, in my opinion is the Greatest Lie.

"Freedom isn't free" is a mantra touted by warmongers when, in fact, they don't realize that our constitution says exactly the opposite, that freedom is free. The sad fact is that the federal reserve, a private bank, for the last 90+ years has eroded the freedom that we once had -- the 'freedom isn't free' mantra isn't true, but it sure seems that it's getting more and more true with each passing year, and each passing dollar of interest we pay to this private entity.

The world's greatest lie is the Biolocgical Clock, "Feelings", with reference to the electronic narcotics popularized with any film. Love does not have a 'feeling' that follows you, you are what makes all relationships worthwhile. You can give birth at any age. http://gknot.net/dfusz/files/Stupid%20is%20Stupid%20Fact%20is%20Fact%20is%20Fact.jpg

I would say, is probably the treatment of certain people and other living things. When you are brought up and raised, you are taught not to hurt each other because everyone has feelings that should not be hurt, and that killing is wrong. However; we are taught that eating other living things is correct. Most people ignore the way animals are treated. It has been proven that you do not really need to devour animal products for a healthy diet. In fact it has been found my many researchers that people may be even healthier without animal products in their diets. Why are people still continuing to include cruelty in their lives? If we can try to eliminate war, why can't we stop the hurting that is occuring in factory farms and all over the world? Animals have feelings just like everyone else.. they just speak a different language and didn't create guns to kill or other machines which; in fact; are killing this planet with waste. Who agrees with me?

that "civilization" is the greatest accomplishment and attainment of knowledge by any culture of humans or any form of life in the history of the earth. ignoring the fact that 99% of the time man has existed on this planet he lived in a way every species of HOMO did, which was one of many variants of the TRIBAL LIFE. which for hundreds of thousands, maybe millons of years sustained and secured humans wherever it was practiced on earth, from the harshest of the deserts to the blizzards of the poles, the tribal life is HOMO'S greatest invention and still is in pockets of the world left untouched by civilization.

Is it really possible to stop global warming when we are so capable of ignoring the most manifest and imminent dangers in every aspect of life? by Nathan

no

There are 2 aspects of this issue that could benifit from further discussion. First the Earth's climate is getting warmer naturally, but is being accelerated by Human activity. The Earth is coming out of an Ice Age (perminant ice at the poles) and is warming to a more normal climate. Second nobody knows, for sure, what the result will be, apart from the rise in sea levels. The best estimate would be to look at the past, When the entire planet was more tropica,l with lush froests and plants everywhere. The warmer climate did not result in a barren lifeless world, rather a tropical place with abundant plant and animal life from pole to pole. Study the past it may give you a hint of the future.

how to stop global warming

Jul 21, 2007 3:25:33 PM cite

Stopping large numbers of people from pursuing certain objectives and living certain lifestyles might be anything but easy but at stake may be much less a certain ignorance than a certain lethargy. As long as polls reveal that people believe climate change is a hugely exaggerated issue and terrorism is the more pressing problem, we need to think about what made people rely more on representations of those who hold the power to constitute authoritative knowledge than using their own eyes and brains to investigate and think for themselves. Perhaps we see the result of centuries of 'brainwashing' populations, of not allowing them to be critical and acive citizens, instead make them believe and follow those who 'know what is best' for them. All of a sudden they are supposed to change? Perhaps the ignorance you mention has been produced by intention as a mechanism to lead and manipulate whole populations. The question is rather: are we all (including those who hold power and those who want to be powerful) ready to allow each and every citizen around the globe to become a more responsible and self-relying critical person? This is what would actually be required for a radical change towards a stop of global warming. And this would be a change so drastic in outcome that it might be a very frightening thing to do.

It takes money to make more money. Banks do not loan money they create money through fractional reserve system out of thin air and loans it to rest of us to collect principal and compound interest. The bankers really do not have to work for the money, while the rest of us toil and amny go hungry.

  REALITY by skydog 0 votes

Jul 17, 2007 7:04:36 PM cite

We perpetuate the myth of what is "real" and "not real" and condemn our children to perpetuate it as well. If you say the sky is blue and I say it is pink, we have no way to resolve the conflict until the third party enters the picture and settles it for us. Unless the third person decides that the sky is green; in which case, the conflict starts to become critical...

The biggest lie is pretending to tell the truth. Truth has many sides. The truth of the Palestinians is different from the truth of the people of Isael. The existance of the church is based on belief but presented as 'the one and only' truth (on earth).Things are presented to be the Truth but most of the times they are manipulated to serve own goals.
