I think so much bull has been committed in the name of Jesus Christ and I think that entire thing is the worlds BIGGEST lie. I'm not saying there is no Jesus or no God, I'm just saying that so much crime, death and destruction has been committed in the name of Jesus and that is certianly NOT his message if he ever was alive and had a message to give anyone. Such a fraud. "Becuase Jesus was all about the military invasions!" (Sarcasm of Bill Maher) =)

Although it wasn't a lie when first conceived, the world's resources simply can't support Free Market thinking. So much of our current and future global strife is(will be) a result of this. In the west (particularly here in the US) it has become entitlement thinking: the belief that we are entitled to whatever we can get (damn the costs). So we use our influence to force our agenda across the globe in search of cheaper resources and labor. This is what has brought us to our current state. And if we successfully propogate this thinking to the population centers (China, etc) of the world, the future looks bleak indeed.

You are too ignorant---meaning child-like? You cannot decide for yourselves---meaning child-like? Our society expects you to act and function as an adult child might? The rules are for your own good! Unless we choose to break them and then the new rules are for your own good also? We, being your betters and metaphysical parents know what is best for you? The wealth of a society controlled through the effects/benefits of Mammon is our best shared hope? You know the Moslems hate us for such a philosophy? as a Child I acted as a child? A spoilt child? What adults may grow from a more educated, truthful soil?

The greatest lie - as mainly told by neo-liberals and proponents of killer capitalism - is that it is a 'dog eat dog' world. That, since nature is revolving around competition of species in its 'survival of the fittest' form, it only stands to reason that we humans should operate on a same level. It is the greatest lie in that it is not only extremely damaging to our social conduct, environment and personal happiness, it is also an extremely incorrect analogy since violence along the stratum of Earthly species has always been as a 'last resort option'. Usually expressed in taking what is needed. Being blessed with imagination and thought, we humans in reality need very little to lead rich, fulfilling lives. So this deceiptful look of nature desperately needs to be adjusted.

The worlds greatest lie is that we believe we are everything that matters. We think we are the top-race and we are choosen to rule the world. With this illusion of fame and power we forget what really matters, we forget equallity and justice and love-> instead we promote power, money and hate. The greatest lie is that we believe we know everything and do everything right and by doing this fatal mistake we do everything wrong and in the end disprofit ourselves.

The majority of the world has taken to heart the notion that good exists everywhere, in some form or another. They have been blinded by the media and government into thinking that good prevails over evil. But there is one fundamental problem with this notion: evil has power over man, it always has and it is most likely that it always will. People are murdered everyday. Crack dealers influence the lives of young adults everyday. People are paralyzed in car accidents--which can't really be called an accident when the other driver was drunk. Young men and women are getting injured and killed in a war that was based upon one man's ludicrous ambition. The world is not fair, and often times, good looses to evil.

bad things happen?

Dec 11, 2007 11:21:23 AM cite

Is your argument one that believes if shit can happen it will happen? Can anyone listening point out the fallacy in believing all bad things must happen? Good is as likely to come out on top as evil? Zoroastrianism?

This is blasphemy in it's highest, and most common, form. To claim that a book, or books, passed down through manipulating human minds and hands, can tell us anything about God is truly a great lie. So many people lay their hopes and dreams in a Holy Book that encourages, in some places, hatred, intolerance, sexism, racism, etc. The authors of such books were grappling with their own God-experience, but we cannot ignore that they wrote within a specific historical and sociological timeframe. If there is anything to be learned from the Holy Books, it is that everyone experiences God in his and her own way. God is not necessarily a God of absolutes, not a polarizing God separating the world into clear rights and wrongs. People tend to go to the Holy Books for answers to moral dilemnas, but the grey area is overwhelming. I believe true spiritual maturity is knowing and acknowledging that we do not know God, and that we can only stand in awe of God's mystery.

Once upon a distant time, at the dawn of mankind, someone made a discovery much more powerful than fire. This discovery was the lie, and the knowledge how to use it. He couldn't make the others in the tribe do as he said, they would not listen to him. Until he learned the trick to refer to a higher power! He probably also learned how to predict the next thunderstorm, that gave credibility to his claims. Now they would follow his rules or face punishment from above. The rest is history.
