It is your responsibility to protect yourself and your community from oppressors. If you wait and wait for someone to step up and protect you then you are never going to be free. To quote Ghandi, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world". But be careful. If you use violence to prevent violence you are promoting more violence. But don't let someone control you which you disagree with. Simply say no, and say it often to those you do not want in your life. Then you start a change, instead of wishing for one.

...That the real question is, who gets to define who "They" and "We" are? Sometimes this mentality can lead to horible things, even genocide.
