make social and ecological need a global priority

Jan 6, 2009 1:20:58 AM

Corporations need to team up a global eco group or panel that is also connected design and architectural companies and schools to start a world contest, the investment, is for people and companies to put their skills onto the table and be rewarded as stockholders, it may seem like a set back for a company who usually builds factories to take a half year break to devote and partner with other companies to build say low cost sustanable housing. The payment or reward for those companies could be as stockholders or if a project is not as profitable the reward is a combination of maybe tax breaks or something as simple as a payment from a pool of money or product donated by other corporations... such as the factory building company gets free plane flights for 5 years, donated into the pool by a airline, as well as the factory building company gets a seat on a eco building panel consisting of scientists, and other companies who also contributed ... such a panel could only be effective if it was led by individuals who are not commercially driven in their ideals towards ecology.

youth and world wide communication

Jan 6, 2009 1:30:59 AM

I am guessing this is not about retirement but about promoting openness in the world. The internet has already begun promoting this. A solution that would be great is for countries to make a unified internet town hall. that students from all over the world can go onto their videocam and connect, work on projects with students in other countries. In a short amount of time we will see young people laugh at negative stereotypes of these foreign countries and get on with sharing new ideas as well as making new friends. This would be also effective if classrooms could start the day by connecting with video to another classroom in another country and ask three questions a day. Young people are smart and given the potential for sharing we will see globalization of creativity and compassion flourish.

rewarding and embracing tolerance

What hinders us from accepting each other? A lot of fuel to racism is economic fear a lot of racist fear being trampled by another group..."they took my job, or they did this , they , they , they... the real answers always lie within...schools need to step up and celebrate all the holidays if we have to but rather than not saying christmas because of specific groups getting angry, include everyone. But justice wise is it ok to close down the KKK as a corporation (if they are one) because of them hating? Do we close down tobacco companies some would argue because they are trying to kill people? I think showing children exposing children to as many cultures and people will solve a lot of this, and in the end, the KKK guys will be a smaller and smaller bunch on the corner and eventually ignored by all the kids passing them by and not getting offended because the problem lies within those KKK mens hearts. What if instead of making signs and yelling back at the white supremists we all showed up with bbq's and food and fed them and asked them what their story is...either way laws / anger will only bring more of the same .

bailout needs a bit more...

Jan 6, 2009 2:22:12 AM

I will talk about auto companies bailout and competition. We needed the govt. to not only financially step in but to tell the Auto CEO's " You had your chance." Obama create a contest countrywide or worldwide ! To all those companies, inventors, designers to get a chance to present their ideas. Ideas some have been passionately working on for over 30 + years....These are the progressive ideas auto companies have bought and shelved so the oil machine could keep running...They bought out patents, pushed out small car companies that wanted to make green cars. Once these designers and small companies are allowed to work together and designs are picked and design teams formed can make those new car designs and the major auto companies factories are to be used to produce those cars...a new auto industry would emerge maybe still under the name GM, but replacing that old corporate infrastructure with young people and those who have been working on eco conscious transportation design. I think this type of bailout would promote quality in product development, and bring entrepreneurs and designers/inventors out like trying out for a baseball team we manage to do these types of things in times of war, why not now as a country. But to focus on definitions vs logic and progression will be a shame.

public awareness and participation

It woud be great to hear the issues presented in a creative way , I applaud The Daily Show for bringing fun into the arena of issue awareness...if this model could be also applied to a state level as well as a city or county level and more balanced ...not fair and balanced but open for all parties, it may push celebrity gossip programming down farther on the foodchain...but some refer to the uninformed American as "Sheeple" a lot of this is due to people not seeing how the issues involve them or thier lives directly ..the lack of information due to it not being entertaining...there seems to be a bad trend in corporate driven programming, to dumb things down, I think people like Oprah or The Daily Show producers could be great potential for working with govt. groups and finding new ways to inform and excite americans about their own country.

is easier to make enemies than friends

Jan 6, 2009 3:23:49 AM

It is harder to make friends than enemies. Fighting is quicker to the result, and speed is rewarded in our society, mostly because of money. It is cheaper to launch a missile vs taking the time to make diplomacy work...the missile is probably more expensive ironically than a phone call or a plane ride but the missile is much more of a statement, politics is too much like playing cards people have to put up political walls like sunglasses at the poker table, it works for the short term but long term falls apart this will be something that we will struggle with until a major power shows a great magnitude of compassion that will give trust back as well as maybe making friends with enemies. Very young children will not know they are supposed to hate this person or that person they are open with trust and because of this make friends very easily.

possible but is this really a direction to go?

Jan 6, 2009 6:32:45 AM

It would take a extreme circumstance either natural disaster or something to unite the world to that magnitude uniting all religions is not necessary only bringing our children up to say hey that is awesome that they are praying right now or appreciating that it is possible to freely practice any religion as long as someone is not telling me how to live, that is the issue, when my religion needs me to make other people think the way I think is a issue...as adults we should be able to respect that and how to get to that place is the path ahead of us, teach the young principles of not only respecting anothers space but that it is great and amazing that we can all do and live the way we want to , If am in the mall and see a Seik man in turban I think how cool it is that, that a interesting culture exists that i am experiencing someone new to my world and that he has great different stories that i can learn from is awsome! Once we can let go of our ego and reach out and ask people who they are and what is their story that we can move closer to a compassionate society.
