We are all individuals, with individual minds. I can be thinking about one subject, while you, who could be on the opposite side of Earth, can be thinking of a completely different subject. But, we are all the same species, right? Therefore, whether we like it or not, we are all interconnected. But that doesnt mean you could read my mind, because were connected. That just means that we have relevance to each other, in physical appearance, as well as similar thoughts or actions.

no. it isnt fair. thats why we dont share. if a monkey gets two bananas off a tree, and plans to eat them both himself, but sees another monkey, that is sitting on the other side of the tree, not even trying to get himself bananas. should he give him his other banana, because he looks hungry? even though that other monkey isnt even trying to fend to himself, and has nothing to offer you in exchange for that banana? no. you wouldnt do that. because that other monkey isnt even trying to survive. Instead, he sits all day and depends on other people to help him survive.

Think about this, almost everything humans have used their intellegence to create, harms a natural resource of our planet in at least one way. Cars, plastic, rubber, etc. Name almost any major invention, and there is a negative. A negative that effects the Earth in some way. We already have destroyed ourselves, maybe not as existentially as we have our planet, but we definitely have done some damage to ourselves. War and violence being a perfect example of such. Honestly, in my opinion, at this point, you can try and change the way people live their lives to make them more eco-friendly, but there are so many closed minded people that arent open to change because they dont care, that it would take more years to get people to get the right idea, that by that point, i wouldnt be suprised if the entire planet is stripped bare of all its essential sources. Humans have their intellegence, but barely any humans have commen sense. We are currently destroying ourselves, as well as everything around us. As far as the future goes, unless things change NOW, we are destined for doom.

No. But we sit here and ask ourselves, why do we do it then? why? because it shuts people up, doesnt it? Almost all violence and war is caused by 1) miscommunication, ("he said"... "she said" etc.) even a simple rumor can cause violence and war. 2) ignorance and racism. (generalizing) example: slavery? holocaust? we do it because when we do, we get our way. thats it. its as simple and selfish as that. the point: violence will only cause more violence until both opponents get a piece of mind.

I'm not a big comic fan, but sure, why shouldnt it have artistic value? all a comic book is, is a story with animation attached to the dialogue? like a written movie only 2D. We can throw some paint on a canvas and put it up on our wall, and still call it art. Art is anything physically created by someone with creative and imaginative mind..... that sounded dumb, but it makes sense to me anyway.

this is definitely not a yes or no question. i guess to answer this, i would have to know what you mean by 'good', but ill proceed with what i think about this question. in my opinion, a good life would be one that your proud of. of course, when would you have a chance to judge your entire life, but only in death? i can define a good life by what happened in it. did you get enough sense of adventure during your lifetime, to fulfill your childish dreams? did you get enough experience to learn everything you wanted to know? do you feel like (up to your point at life now) that youve lived a happy life? this question has the ability to be life-altering, because when your dead, you may not have a chance to live again (who really knows until we die?) so when people realize that in they arent happy or fulfilling their lives enough, this question could boost them up, or could bring them down, if they really think about their lives and how this question is relevant. relevance of this question to my personal life: sure. ive had plenty of ups and downs. the downs sticking out quite a bit more than the ups. but still, ive lived adventure (hopefully will moreso in the future), ive felt love and powerful emotions, and i strive everyday to experience new things so that i can grow and learn more from them. but years from now, when my life comes to an end, the only person who can judge my life as 'good' or 'bad' would be me, and no one else.

being a woman, its kind of hard for me to answer this question. i personally think all men are idiots (joke, kind of). but really, it depends on what you mean by 'better'. any answer i give to this question would be generalizing either gender, but most women have a little bit more common sense than men. of course, residing physical reasons, its obvious that women are different than men. women tend to take the ethical or logical approach to things, while most men, take the physical approach. i dont think any one person is better than the other, whether is gender specific or not. but different. any one person is capable of so many things, whether that person is a man or a woman, and i think what makes the person more admirable (i think admirable fits more than better, if thats what you mean by this term), would be what they choose to do with their abilities. a woman can produce just as much evil as a man. just as a man can produce just as much good as a woman. but im no feminist, nor am i conservative and ignorant.

I ask this question

Nov 18, 2009 4:48:25 PM

because im in the middle of both. Ive struggled with happiness quite a bit in my past. But i think thats because ive always been a realistic person, which i guess you could say makes me negative (according to my mom). But i'm young, and i realize i have more than half of my life still to come, and that ive barely made a dent into my life. I just want to know if i should strive for happiness, or strive for intellegence? Obviously, ill have to make this decision on my own, i just want to see what a few fellow intellectuals have to say.

thedoc- your answer to my last question, made me want to post this one. I'm young, and i still have quite a bit to learn, so please take that into consideration if what i say offends you, im not referring to your personal situation.... I fell in love, truly in love, when i was 13 years old. i know you probably think that's some B.S., but if you would have been around, you would have known. We were together for 3 and a half years, which was a big part of my high school life and was probably the happiest time ive ever had in my life (but that doesnt mean i depend on others for my happiness). After it ended, i woke up and realized how much people can change. I personally, dont believe in marriage or 'soul mates', for that sole reason. It's amazing to see relationships that really do work together (for they are very rare), and you can see the love and respect those two people have for each other. But what about the future of those relationships? are those two people going to stay the same two people forever? Will they change? And when they do change, are they going to change together, or are they going to change from each other and eventually seperate? In my opinion, people constantly change, no matter what age they are.

I think love is something that is definitely possible for all living things, but we couldnt prove it unless we knew how to figure out exactly what those living beings are thinking. But love and caring are different i suppose. Animals can care for each other, and look out for each other, but im not sure if you would call that love. I think caring and respect are universal, but actual LOVE i think is a human invention. Only because of the way we express it. How we kind of claim one another as our own when were in love is definitely a human thing. And you know, that jittery feeling and that connection that you can have with just one person isnt something that you see in alot of other living beings.

i would say my freedom, but then i would be dead, so what freedom would be left to fight for? ..really the only thing i could think of is my parents. my mom or my dad, either one, i would do anything to keep them from being harmed that way. if it was a choice of either of my parents dying, or me dying, i think i would have to choose myself.

i dont think there are any answers to our existance. we exist. why should it be more complicated than that? but of course with our complex minds, we seek answers to all of our philospoical questions. if there are answers to our existance, i dont think they would be in space, i think they would be right here on earth, with us. but who knows, you could use your imagination and go so far as to say that every star is an answer and every moon and every sun in every galaxy, is an answer. but i dont think thats so, because without our technology, we would have never been able to know whats out there in our galaxy, because if we were meant to go exploring in it, we would have wings and be able to breath oxygen outside of our atmosphere. but overall, no i dont think the answers to our existance lies in space. thats an interesting theory though.

Marriage is nothing but vows and two rings. I definitely think they should be allowed to marry. Whats the difference between a woman-man marriage, and a man-man/woman-woman marriage? Besides the obvious difference in gender.

you might want to think about that question a little bit harder. thats .006 % more in the past almost 20 years now. but thats a percentage out of ALL GASES IN THE ATMOSPHERE. i dont mean to offend you, but i think you under estimated how much gas there is in our atmosphere.

ive never been to a Church, or a Mosque, or a Temple, or any place of worship. So therefore, ive never understood the whole concept of religion. my parents always had the view that if i ever wanted to learn about any type of religion, i would pursue it. I still, to this day, have no interest. I dont believe in one superior being, because i have no witness of such. I believe in things i see with my eyes, example: plants, the ocean, animals, etc. I believe that we shouldnt live to praise a superior being, its about self realization first, among all others. But of course, this topic is extremely controversial, and im sure plenty of the people in the world would argue the opposite.

I own a set of Tarot cards, and a really helpful book that can interpret those cards. I've been doing my own at least twice a week for a few months now. And so far, it seems that almost every answer relates, whether im doing a 'future' spread, or a 'present' spread, or a zodiac spread, or any of those. I got the Death card, two days before my grandfather died. I've had only a few times that the cards didnt exactly correlate with what i wanted to know. I dont rely on these cards, but i just find them so damn interesting.

because its natural that we eat meat. look at our teeth, flat in the front and far back, sharp and pointy in the middle. were omnivores. we eat plants and animals. if you choose to eat no meat, and just plants, thats fine, as a human, your able to make that decision for yourself. Humans contradict themselves. i think the domestication of animals into pets is wrong. but thats my personal opinion. i dont want to cage an animal as if they were in jail, any more than i would want to be caged in a jail. but as far as humans eating meat goes, its only natural.

the sad thing about that is, we do. the people who can afford it, waste it. and even if we did produce enough food for the ENTIRE human race to live off of and waste some also, there would be no resources left. the human race is so enormous that the entire earth would be dead and gone by now if everyone got what they wanted to needed.

Jun 1, 2010 4:32:32 AM

Why do you blame a god that you put all of your faith and trust in for something that he obviously cannot control? the point of religion is to give you morals and understanding of the good side of human nature, not to blame and take only what you want or need. If you rely on God to save and fix your problems, then it seems you have not interpreted your religious book very well. If you are being abused and you want it to stop, i suggest seeking help. If this is the case, then I am very sorry for the things that you are going through.
