Profile of Mohau Pheko
Independent political economist Mohau Pheko has one of the most respected voices in development economics. A specialist in the position of women in economics, Pheko has worked as a consultant to Southern African governments and companies and for numerous international programmes. In 1998 she set up the Motheho Integrity Consultants , a company which specialises in providing economic research, policy and literacy to parliamentarians, civil servants and womens organisations. Pheko is coordinator of Gender and Trade Network in Africa.
The International Gender and Trade Network is a network of feminist gender specialists who provide technical information on gender and trade issues to women's groups, NGOs, social movements and governments. IGTN acts as a political catalyst to enlarge the space for a critical feminist perspective and global action on trade and globalization issues. It is a Southern-led network that builds South/North cooperation in the work of developing more just and democratic policy from a critical feminist perspective.
