Outsourcing Migrant Processing
The language course would be part of the
AUSCO program, which provides a cultural orientation for refugees by the
International Organization for Migration. Skeptics question the move towards pre-migration training and/or cultural orientation outside of the country as another hindrance to refugees who may have been living in camps for several years. In light of the recent discussion on “
Australian values,” the proposed rules come at an interesting time.
